Because outsourcers have been focusing more and more on their core activities the past few years, the need for suppliers of complete modules and (sub) systems has increased significantly. The System Suppliers group bundles within NEVAT the suppliers of such (sub) modules.

The system supplier distinguishes himself because he takes over specific responsibilities of the OEM, in the sense that he provides an important contribution to:

• Industrial design or engineering
• Project management
• Productivity and industrialization
• Serial production;
• Logistics and purchase (supply chain management);
• Assemblage and testing
• Value engineering;
• Lifecycle management;
• Risk-bearing participation.

The mission of the System Suppliers group is to promote the knowledge and competences of the members so they can strengthen their international competitiveness. Concrete objectives are:

• Internationally marketing of the profile of the System Supplier;
• The German market is an important spearhead
• Developing and documenting of business models and market opportunities for the System Suppliers: the theme value creation is specifically brought to the front
• Strengthening the mutual network by organizing member meetings at OEMs amongst other things

The objectives are realised by organizing meetings and projects that fit in this framework. Recent examples include:

• Discussion with a large OEM about the business model
• Realization of the international picture trade mark for the sector
• Workshop about the theme: how do I add value to the chain?

Organising meetings around themes including valuation of knowledge, risk bearing, pre-financing, total cost of ownership, from expense model to value model, project management, inventory control, intellectual property rights, lean manufacturing, value stream mapping and value added logistics.
